NATHAN ROCKSHELL - Biography/Discography [Jul. 25th, 2010|06:43 pm]
At only twenty-two years old Nathan Rockshell seems poised to take over the world. It wasn't long ago that he burst on to the pop scene with that five piece boy band, taking over the video rotation on MTV, and selling out concert after concert in a matter of minutes. People wrote these five pretty boys off as nothing, not even realizing that there was a talent hiding in the youngest member of the group, just waiting for his chance to shine on his own.

Rockshell was born in a small town just outside of New Orleans on August 2nd, 1984. His parents came from a modest background, his mom an elementary school teacher and his father a construction worker, they were shocked when their son showed musical ability that they had no idea was in the family blood. "It was almost like he could sing before he could talk, he's been humming along to the radio and picking out harmonies since I can remember, it's just like he was born with this completely natural musical ability," his mother, Leigh Rockshell, has said on more than one occasion. His parents quickly found a voice teacher in New Orleans, taking him there once a week to help him develop these natural gifts, and it was in birthplace of Jazz that Nathan seemed to bloom.

But it was an ad in the paper that caught his eye when he was 12 years old. An open audition for the ever popular children's show, The Mickey Mouse Club. After much convincing, he finally got his mom to agree to drive him to Orlando, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Not only was he taken under the wing of Disney, given opportunities that most kids can only dream of, but it was also in Orlando (even on the set of MMC) that he met his future band mates. It was also on the set that he met his future sweetheart, the girl that not only would steal his heart, but eventually the heart of the entire world. Nathan was on MMC for two seasons before the show folded again and he joined with a manager in Orlando that took the five boys under his wing. He developed and polished THEM, setting up mall gigs all over the south to get their name out there. When they caught the attention of the Columbia record label, all the sacrifices the boys and their families had made over the past few years, seemed completely worth it.

The band recorded their first album, and with the hit single "Tearin' Up My Heart" exploding all over Top 40 radio, their popularity could not be denied. With the record label and his manager trying to capitalize on the newfound popularity, they pushed album after album out, and it was only on their last release, "Celebrity" that Rockshell's talent finally got to shine on his own. He penned a number of songs, and throughout the writing and recording process discovered how much he loved doing his own thing, without the iron hand of the band on top of him.

At only twenty, he started writing and recording his first solo album, only ever admitting to taking a break from the boy band that made him famous. But the success of the first album came along with some serious pitfalls. It seemed that the album cemented the fact that he couldn't go back to his teenybopper roots, the kid simply had too much talent. And the tabloids exploded when him and his sweetheart broke-up after four years together. He was blamed, then she was blamed, in a song that seemed to be penned only as a bitter break-up anthem directed at her, he used his voice to tell the truth.

He's been on a national tour since the release of the album in late 2009, reaching the far corners of the world to bring his R&B/Pop infused music to everyone that could want to hear it. He's proven, time and time again, that he has what it takes to stick around, despite what people potentially though of him. Now, on the verge of going into the studio for his second studio album, he's ready to show the world what comes next.
